1. Kelly Preston.

View this post on Instagram

It is with a very heavy heart that I inform you that my beautiful wife Kelly has lost her two-year battle with breast cancer. She fought a courageous fight with the love and support of so many.  My family and I will forever be grateful to her doctors and nurses at MD Anderson Cancer Center, all the medical centers that have helped, as well as her many friends and loved ones who have been by her side. Kelly’s love and life will always be remembered. I will be taking some time to be there for my children who have lost their mother, so forgive me in advance if you don’t hear from us for a while.  But please know that I will feel your outpouring of love in the weeks and months ahead as we heal. All my love, JT

A post shared by John Travolta (@johntravolta) on

Woof this one was a shock. Apparently Kelly was privately battling cancer for the past two years so while we’re all feeling like this is very sudden, I’m guessing her close family members had been preparing for this moment. Kelly always struck me as someone who was classy as hell and had a lot of poise about her. Also, anyone who puts up with John Travolta on the daily and his wacky hijinks/borderline stroke symptoms (no one will ever forget Adele Dazeem) has to be a G-D saint. Not to mention the fact that there’s the whole long-standing rumor that John is actually gay and hooking up with men on the reg while keeping up appearances with Kel. Who knows if any of that is true, all that I know is that this is a horrible loss and she has a 9 year old son–much younger than I had realized AND they had already lost a child a few years back. Lots of tragedy in this family and depending on who we count as famous, we’ve got another celebrity death coming down the pipeline because it always comes in threes. Brace yourselves.

2. Naya Follow-Up. Obviously this isn’t really breaking news, but Naya’s body was recovered and they declared there was no foul play, she simply drowned in the lake. Again my conspiracy theories were working in overdrive as they made the announcement because they gave virtually 0 deets and I still don’t quite understand how one drowns in a lake, but after some sleuthing on Twitter, I was able to find the answers to the many questions I have. And this is why I write this blog, so I can report the news that I had to dig to find.

riptides

Shout out to Jojoba for even including a chart of how rip currents work. My dumb brain couldn’t wrap around the idea of currents in a lake and I’m glad we could get to the bottom of this. And now that we have, YA THINK MAYBE IT’S TIME TO BAN SWIMMING IN LAKE PIRU? Several people have drowned and yet we’re still just popping those dams open and closed and not putting a warning out there?! HUH?! Hopefully this is a wake up call for that giant suction sewer they call a lake and they’ll ban swimming or something moving forward. I mean they even had a hard time finding her body. What is living in that lake that just snatches bodies and hides them?! Shit’s cursed. Also, I’ll be the first to admit that none of my theories about this being a suspicious death turned out to be true. I was wrong. Hands up. I’ll dial it back with the true crime as long as Lake Piru promises to lock it up with the dragging swimmers to their death garbage. On top of all of this, Naya’s body was found on the anniversary of Cory Monteith’s death. Eerie and really not a great day for the cast of Glee, pictured below at the lake.

3. Entanglement.

Will Smith

Now that I’ve thoroughly depressed you, let’s turn things around for the second half of the JUice with some good ole fashioned Hollywood trashy gossip. Remember way back when Gwyneth Paltrow called her divorce from Chris Martin a “conscious uncoupling” and everyone pointed and laughed at how RIDICULOUS and BOUGIE and HOLLYWOOD that was? Y’all are getting divorced. Ain’t no cutesy term for it. Well here we are again. Jada Pinkett Smith called banging someone who is not her husband an “entanglement.” Ok, girl. Whatever helps you sleep at night. I’m guessing Will never wants to hear that word again for the rest of his life. Here’s the lowdown on this wacky story that I’m sure no one even cared about until the Smiths decided to address it v. publicly. There was some chatter about Jada hooking up with this singer August Alsina. And instead of just ignoring it, these two clowns decided to lay out all of their relationship deets on an episode of Red Table Talk. They talk about how August was a family friend first (weird) and they were helping him with his health problems (not clear on what those health problems are) and then Will & Jada separated and did not think they would ever be getting back together. And that’s when August took Jada to Bangtown, USA. And now Will and Jada are still together so that’s AWKZ. Especially when you have to talk about it on your tv show. If you want to cringe your face off, watch the below clip. I had a frozen derp face for “entanglement” and almost covered my eyes for the “bad marriage for life” fist bump.

Obviously, that can’t go down without a little feedback. Here’s August’s jibberish on Twitter because he was getting unwanted attention and also Jada basically called him a liar saying Will didn’t give August permission to bang her, CAUSE BITCH DON’T NEED NO PERMISSION TO GET ENTANGLED.

And then shout out to 50 Cent for stirring the pot. Can you imagine separating with your wife, a mutual friend porking her, getting back together and then years later having to talk about it in front of everyone?! Cherry on top is 50 Cent reminding you that someone else blew your wife’s back out. WHAT A GUY.

4. Poop-Gate.

amberjohnny

In other dysfunctional Hollywood couple news, the trial of Amber Heard and Johnny Depp’s divorce is finally happening. To be completely honest I forgot about these two. She accused him of assault and then there was a lot of he said, she said, pointing fingers at who was actually the abusive one and it seemed like a real messy explosive relashe and then they kinda went away for a while. I guess now they’re in trial, I’m not entirely sure what it’s for, if I had to guess Amber wants a chunk of that Jack Sparrow change, but what really grabbed my attention is the stories that are being hurled back and forth. Now it’s ON. There’s stories from a former assistant that Amber used her personal rape story and claimed it happened between Amber and Johnny. There’s fake bruises and claims of fingers that were cut off. It’s literally a SHITSHOW and clearly neither of these two care that the deets of their domestic dispute of a marriage are hitting the tabs during trial. It’s just balls to the wall hate for each other. Photos were released of a little lunch time whiskey & coke for Johnny, rumors about Amber having threesomes with Cara Delevigne and Elon Musk, Johnny spelling out Amber’s name in urine, Amber punching Johnny in the face when he lost $650million.

I mean this is literally a soap opera. What ridiculous thing will come out next. OPE, then as if by celebrity magic…the story appeared. Amber pooped in their bed “as a prank” and that was Johnny’s last straw. Turds in the bed=automatic divorce. Apparently she tried to blame it on the dog when she saw how mad he was, but him and the maid both knew those were human-sized logs. I’m sorry but WHAT. I’m firmly on the team of finding poop and fart jokes funny because I have the maturity of a 12 year old boy, but this is very very much NOT funny. Let’s just say I would never let it rip in the bed I share with my husband then hide and wait for him to find it. This was an aggressive dumping and it was done out of despise, not all in good fun. I respect Johnny’s decision to cut Amber loose after this incident. There’s no turning back from Johnny telling her that he lost money from shady business his managers were doing, getting rocked in the face for it, and then finding a fresh number 2 in their bed the next morning. And God bless the maid who cleaned that up. The photo of the actual deuce has been released (because of course it has) and I’ll let you seek that one out on your own as I feel like The Salty Ju should be a poop-free zone–strictly photographically speaking, of course. It has yet to be revealed what exactly Amber’s defense is to the worst prank in the world, but you can assume I’ll keep my nose on the poop trail and report it with equal parts disgust and glee.

5. DWTS Shake-Up.

tyra

Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews, longtime hosts of Dancing with the Stars have gotten the boot to make way for miss TYRA Banks. Not only is this another VERY obvious and calculated move from ABC to say, “stop calling us racist” but also the fact that Tyra is so obnoxious she’ll do the job of two hosts. Sorry, Tommy boy.

Here’s hoping for a lot of smizing, WE WERE ROOTING FOR YOU and KISS MY FAT ASS moments to come. Tyra is a freaking reality TV powerhouse and honestly it’s been far too long since she’s graced our screens with outrageous outbursts. It’s only a matter of time before we know she’s BACK.

rooting for you

BONUS:

Poppin this heater on here because a local musician, Micah Premnath, who I started following in college (saw him live once and bought his homemade CD after the show) is a songwriter and anytime he posts a song by pop artists that he helped write, I give it a listen. And it’s usually a killer song. Also I’m super proud of him anytime he has writing credits on a big song because that probably means big bucks.  So I’m just sharing the wealth here. Plus John Legend’s soothing angel voice, woooo baby. I love it.

Bonus Bonus:

I randomly made a TikTok this week to make fun of my stupid life and how I have written get a job in my monthly planner goals for SEVEN months now and it remains unchecked. Siiiiiiiick goals, brah. (And whatdya know, this one got thousands of views. My pain is the world’s entertainment. What can I say.)

Top Ten Dance Movie Montages

Since I pretty much air out all of my guilty pleasures on this blog, I don’t even know if I can call them guilty pleasures anymore. So this one’s for my fellow loud and proud CHEEZY dance movie lovers. If there’s a movie centered on the art of dance, you can pretty much bet I’ll be watching. It’s my year-round Hallmark holiday movie, so to speak. A love story mixed in with some bada$$ choreography. I like to pretend that I too, could’ve been a professional dancer but unfortunately my elementary ballet with Miss Louise, followed by 2 years of “Jazz” classes in middle school and ending in a Radio Disney dance team tryout where I couldn’t even remember the steps they taught us five minutes prior ended that dream real quick.

FullSizeR

I learned to accept that my best moves will come out between the hours of 11 PM and 4 AM after approximately 100 bud lights. It’s a shame they never created a feature on my Jersey turnpikin’ skillz at the club in college. (There’s still time…) Either way, I’ve learned to truly appreciate a bangin final dance number or montage, the best of which I’ve outlined below.

10. Footloose

Footloose is rounding out the caboose because to be perfectly honest it was before my time and I’ve never actually seen it. It may dishearten a few to hear that I’ve only seen the remake with Julianne Hough and Kenny Wormald. HOWEVER, knowing the history of dance movies, it would be preposterous to leave off the movie centered on a town that BANNED DANCING from this list. So here’s a fun look at when a boy just needs to dance out his feelings, even though he could be arrested for it. #Rebel.

9. Honey

Hoodrat Jessica Alba is the only version I wish to know. From the gold nameplate necklace to the way that she says “we peoples”, I CANNOT LOOK AWAY. Girl gets exclusive beats from DJ Scratch for pete’s sake. And don’t even get me started on how she rocks that “just wear the sleeves” fashion with some baggy camo pants. Honey’s such a good choreographer that she turns someone falling into a dance move! In all seriousness, this movie is #9 because I expect no one who hasn’t seen it yet to ever watch it. It’s embarrassing at best and that’s saying a lot for a movie that features Jadakiss as a “top celebrity”. Bottom line is that you watch this to laugh at Jessica Alba acting street and being the most sought out choreographer in the rap industry. It’s the little things in life that bring me joy. This movie is one of them.

8. Save the Last Dance

Save the Last Dance is that tried and true, mix up a guy from the wrong side of the tracks with a straight laced nerd. I wish Julia Stiles wasn’t such a cream cheese white awkward bird in this movie because 90% if it is cringeworthy. Her wearing a Gap cami and french braids to the club was level 10 embarrassing. A ballet and hip hop mashup should always be appreciated though and that’s why her Juilliard try out made the list. Nothing will ever top your black boyfriend teaching you how to booty pop, grl.

7. High School Musical 3

Although the High School Movie franchise is not technically part of the dance genre, it still counts because Zac Efron’s got moves for daaaays. Real talk, I don’t think I’ve ever faced anything quite as difficult as just choosing one dance number from the 3 HSM movies. Do I go with a Troy Bolton emo solo where he’s contemplating basketball versus theater in the halls of his high school? Tempting for sure. Instead I settled for the duet between these two wildcats. Vanessa Hudgens’ legs look real bangable and it’s no wonder her boyfriend wants to spin her around the rooftop just to ask her to prom. Seriously did you see how effortlessly he swooped her into the air? Sigh.

6. Dirty Dancing

A classic that should never be revisited (I’m talking to you, ABC) and of course the famous lift that every girl wishes her boyfriend could flawlessly perform. Seriously, guys, it shouldn’t be that hard to toss us above your head and hold us there while you spin. May Patrick Swayze and those sassy hips rest in peace as his memory lives on forever through (I’ve Had) The Time of My Life. We owe it all to you.

5. Grease

If I’m gonna slobber all over nobody putting baby in a corner, you bet your ass that Sandy in her bad gurl leathers was making this list. She puts her hussy pants on and is suddenly ready to shimmy it up for her man. I’m only a little jelly of her legs in those pants. Ok fine I’m a lot jelly. (If you’re noticing a trend here with me drooling over every female leads legs, you’re not wrong.) Everyone whose anyone knows that the shake shack is the best part of this routine and it’s not even up for debate.

4. Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

We’ve now arrived at one of the most underrated 80’s dance flicks of all time. SJP and Helen Hunt in their infant years when they were fresh on the Hollywood scene. If you haven’t seen this movie I suggest you watch it immediately if you want to be respected as a theatrical dance movie aficionado. SJP is a catholic school girl with a nazi dad and her counter part is OBV a bad boy but they become dance partners competing for a spot as COVETED Dance TV regulars. Although the tryouts and the final DTV competition are stellar in their own right, it would’ve been an injustice not to include this VERY 80’s dance/falling in love montage from the middle of the movie. My sister used to be so obsessed with this scene that she would rewind the ole VHS and replay it roughly 15 times before we could move on to the rest of the movie. Enjoy the classic beach silhouette lift and throwback Pepsi can mixed in with lots and lots of gymnastics.

3. Step Up 2 The Streets

It may surprise you that I don’t have the original Step Up and the spark of Channing and Jenna’s love on here. I like to toss in a curveball every once in a while to keep everyone on their toes. Here’s the second installment (every Step Up that follows this are white hot garbage) where having a dance crew and performing out on the streets is WAY cooler than getting into some lame arts school. They prove it too by dancing outside to trunk speakers IN THE RAIN. Whoa. The reason this dance is so high on the  list can pretty much be narrowed down to one baller move and that is OBVIOUSLY when what’s his face does the heart beat over what’s her face. I’m not proud of it but I spent far too much time one night in college trying to perfect that move with one of my roommates. Unfortunately rhythm is necessary for nailing that to a beat, but whatever. A for effort.

2. Magic Mike

This one’s for all my LAAADIEZZZZZ. (I mean, technically they all are, but we’ll pretend it’s just this one) Essentially the only takeaway from Magic Mike is the Pony dance and that’s pretty freaking obvious. I don’t really think I need to say anything else.

1. Center Stage

The queen bee of dance movies is Center Stage. They barely even hired actors for this, they just straight up trolled the American Ballet Company for dancers to play themselves. Never did I ever think a ballet performance could be interesting enough to contain a saucy sex scene but that’s just what Cooper, bad boy of ballet, does. This performance was 10 minutes long and I am continuously riveted for every single minute. Boys fighting over a girl, motorcycles onstage, all the way to her flawless red lip, dreadlocks finale. WHAT A WHIRLWIND. This dance number has everything I could have ever hoped and dreamed and that’s why it’s the GOAT. Even I was like hey, should I maybe become a ballerina by the end of it. Then I remembered how they basically chop their toes off to stand on wooden blocks for 90% of every day and I was out. PS do NOT try to make boys watch this movie. They will revolt and ruin every precious moment of this badass final dance. Tough stuff, lesson learned.

Grammys 2017 Recap

james

Since I can’t go like five minutes without voicing my opinion, I’ve decided to round up a quick recap of last night’s Grammys. Why? Because if I have to sit through 15 hours of television, I reserve the right to dissect every single thing that happened as if I am an expert on all things awards shows.  So in no particular order, here are the top five things that happened last night when I turned 35 watching a bunch of celebrities sing on TV.

1. I’m on Hiatus from the Hive.

screen-shot-2017-02-13-at-8-43-11-am

Just like every other basic bitch in America, I love Beyonce. She’s super rich, puts out bangers, and kind of scares me a little bit. Well, I’m also real enough to admit when she’s doing too much. Telling her husband to suck on her balls and stop cheating on her via song? Funny and cool. Wearing a gold headdress and doing an entire performance with children laughing and a recording of your own voice whispering a speech? Creepy AF. Performing her most snoozeworthy songs chopped up with her talking about women and moms while she sits like a robot on a tipping chair was enough. Even Blue was like ok, mom, wrap it up. After those weird pregnancy announcement photos I was on the fence and then everything she did at the Grammys last night tipped me over the edge. I’m using this platform to announce to you all that I’m taking a break, Ross and Rachel style, from the Beyhive. Will I be back the minute she sneezes those babies out? Obviously. But for right now I think it’s time that we see other people.

2. John Travolta is still oblivious.

johntravolta

It seems like we drag up Johnny T every year to collectively have a laugh at his expense at a major awards show. We’ve had him stroking out over Idina Menzel at the Oscars and then trying to get in on the joke the year after. Last night it was a pleasure to watch him and his diamond chainz read off of index cards because the teleprompter type isn’t big enough for his old person eyes. I want to believe that he’s self-aware and knows everything he does is weird but at the same time I know in my heart that John thinks he’s real life Danny Zuko, cool as a cucumber while all of Hollywood makes fun of him. And somehow that makes it better.

3. No Red Sox Fans in Hollywood.

carpool

We all knew it was coming, but I don’t think anyone expected it to be this awkward. Like Ellen’s Oscar selfie, it’s always a bigger host win if they can get as many famous people to play into a bit as possible. Unfortunately for James, I don’t think he anticipated not one single person knowing the words to Sweet Caroline. Even Neil Diamond was struggling and they were all clearly reading the lyrics off of a teleprompter. They didn’t even nail the SO GOOD, SO GOOD, SO GOOD and drunk people in a bar can crush that! It was such a trainwreck that even Blue Ivy bopped over to see what all the fuss was. Apparently she thinks that just because she was born into the Illuminati she can crash a carpool karaoke sesh and then not sing when the mic is given to her. She better learn to start hamming it up real soon or she’ll be forgotten as soon as these twins are born.

4. Rihanna likes to party.

screen-shot-2017-02-13-at-8-44-11-am

We always need someone in the audience to watch and although CBS wanted it to be Keith Urban with the amount that they panned to him grooving out, the real winner was Rihanna and her booze. If I had to sit through that awards show and look entertained with cameras on me you better believe that I’m gonna be tossing back shots from a diamond flask. At one point she literally goes, I think it’s time for another shot. I almost wished I was drinking last night so that RiRi didn’t have to do shots alone. I am nothing if not a polite social drinker. Never let your friend take a solo shot, that’s my motto.

5. Adele is Queen.

screen-shot-2017-02-13-at-8-42-13-am

Adele snuck right up to being my favorite person at the Grammys last night. At first I was like ok, Hello is the oldest song ever I don’t need to hear it again. But then she pulled a boss move by casually stopping her George Michael trib, tossing around a couple of F bombs and declaring a redo. It makes me love her even more knowing that she has a garbage can mouth because I don’t know if you know this about me, but I too appreciate a good swear word and if world class singer Adele can pull that shit and get a standing O, THEN SO CAN I. (Mom and Dad- pls remember that the next time I accidentally swear in your presence.) Anyway, Adele then went on to win all of the awards and slobber all over Beyonce in the process. Quickest way to make sure Beyonce fans don’t instantly hate you? Declare in your acceptance speech that Beyonce should’ve won and that’s obvious. Adele is always one step ahead.

Bonus: Ed working that loop like nobody’s biz. It’s no Castle on the Hill but I accept.
